English Meaning and significance
Daily prayers is said to be auspicious and sacred. It has the potential to give rise to a calm and a peaceful mind that will inspire us to be in a meditative state. Daily pooja is the simplest way to thank the supreme almighty for bestowing us with this life and fulfilling all our wishes based on our karmas.
When is this puja undertaken?
Daily, preferably in the morning when the mind and body is fresh and rested. Although, evenings may also be a suitable to perform daily prayer.
How to Observe/Practice
The devotee should take a bath, dress and sit in prayer room facing east. Thereafter sprinkle water on the place and idols to clean and purify. Apply kum kum to the idols. Light lamps and agarbathi. Ganesh Pooja – followed by Guru Stuti, chant mantras to invoke blessings of all the Gods. Offer flowers and Prasadh (sugar candy/nuts/raisins/fruit). Light camphor and perform Aarti Traditions and language may vary. In Tamil daily prayer is referred to as Veetil dhinam piraathanai. Fresh water is filled in the container that is placed next to the God lamp. Fresh flowers are placed. The lamp is lit. Dhoop/ incense sticks are lit. Invocation to Lord Ganesha is followed by manthras offered to various Deities. Aarathanai is then offered and the sacred ash placed on the forehead in open the third eye
